The War-Dead Catacombs represent one of the most intense side dungeons hidden within the vast world of Elden Ring. Situated in the hostile region of Caelid, this location tests players with environmental hazards, aggressive spectral foes, and a formidable boss fight. Navigating this underground labyrinth requires tactical movement and preparation to secure its valuable treasures.

Finding the Location and Requirements

Accessing the War-Dead Catacombs requires players to first defeat Starscourge Radahn in Caelid. Once the battle is won, travel to the northernmost edge of the massive desert arena where the cliffs meet the shoreline. Look along the heavy cliff face to locate a hidden entrance leading directly into the catacombs.

Navigating the Dungeon Walkthrough

Upon entering, players will encounter a chaotic battlefield filled with spectral warriors fighting each other in a hall covered in Scarlet Rot. Progress along the upper balconies while avoiding long-range archers firing from hidden vantage points. Follow the path up the stairs, traverse the upper levels, and jump through the window to locate the lever that unlocks the main boss arena.

Enemies and Environmental Hazards

The interior of the dungeon features spectral forms of Redmane Knights, Cleanrot Knights, and Radahn Soldiers who endlessly battle each other. Standard Imp statues also ambush unsuspecting explorers in narrow hallways throughout the upper floors. Additionally, pools of Scarlet Rot line the lower floor, requiring players to manage their status buildup carefully during combat.

Defeating the Boss and Claiming Rewards

The final chamber houses the Putrid Tree Spirit, a massive boss that inflicts heavy physical damage alongside Scarlet Rot. Utilizing fire-based attacks or stance-breaking jump attacks helps lower the boss's health bar efficiently. Defeating this powerful creature rewards players with a Golden Seed and the powerful Redmane Knight Ogha spirit ashes. Valuable loot such as the Collapsing Stars spell, Radahn Soldier Ashes, and high-tier upgrade materials can also be collected throughout the halls.
